The challenges that face our young girls today is enormous, some Nigerian young girls graduate from public high school, but with no prospects for jobs or further education, they end up working and living on the streets in large numbers.
After a year, about 70% of people are at risk of: becoming single mothers, contracting HIV/AIDS, becoming victims of sex trafficking, or dying as a result of botched abortions are all possibilities.
Poverty, illiteracy, and a rise in gender-based violence aggravate the issue, with a negative effect on young girls. Men stand to now take advantage of these young ladies by enticing them with money to take care of their daily needs. But this can stop when these young girls have stable income to take care of their basic needs. So the importance of empowering them with different skills of their choice become very necessary. This where Peculiar Women of Destiny International (PWODI) comes in to help out. We train young girls to acquire skills that will make them self-employed and we also mentor them with our various mentors on ground to reorient them for a dignified life and become a source of inspiration to other girls.
PWODI is well established to help give values to these set of young girls in our society. We have carefully picked some key areas to focus on at the beginning stage of our movement to give dignity to our young girls in Nigeria.
Fashion design
Is a form of art dedicated to the creation of clothing and other lifestyle accessories. Modern fashion design is divided into two basic categories: haute couture and ready-to-wear. The haute couture collection is dedicated to certain customers and is custom sized to fit these customers exactly.
Girls that subscribe to our fashion design training shall acquire the skill and also will be granted facilities to help them start on their own to become self dependent.
Shoe and Bag Making
Is the process of making footwear.
Originally, shoes were made one at a time by hand, often by groups of shoemakers, or cobblers. In the 18th century, dozens or even hundreds of masters, journeymen and apprentices (both men and women) would work together in a shop, dividing up the work into individual tasks. A customer could come into a shop, be individually measured, and return to pick up their new shoes in as little as a day. Everyone needed shoes, and the median price for a pair was about one day’s wages for an average journeyman. This is another area our girls can flourish in in Nigeria.
We provide this opportunity for girls that are interested in this skill to be empowered in becoming self-employed at the end of the program. We shall help establish graduate from this skill by providing necessary equipment needed to start on their own.
Catering and Event Management
The planning of food and drink at an event is an important process; the events success can rise or fall on the catering. In choosing catering and food to suit the event, consider the following: Understand who the guests are and then cater for the preferences and needs of the guests.
Event catering includes 3 main types of caterers:
Hotel/Restaurant caterers. Mobile/Delivery caterers, Private full-service caterers.
PWODI, is making this skill available for our girls to learn all it take to become master in catering and event management.
Videography and Editing
The work of videographers may include editing, but it goes beyond that to actually capturing the footage and maintaining equipment. … Video editors, on the other hand, focus on putting the raw audio and video footage into a coherent order.
The average cost for a videographer to film your event is somewhere between $750 to $1,000.

Welding/Metal Fabrication
Welding joins together two pieces of metal, glass, or thermoplastics with similar melting points and compositions using fusion. Fabrication is the evolutionary process of creating a metal product, from layout and design to formation and finishing.
A typical welder fabricator is tasked with constructing a variety of metal objects. Metal construction often requires more than just welding. Welder fabricators could be responsible for: Machining fabrication materials and components.

Graphics Design
Graphic design is a craft where professionals create visual content to communicate messages. By applying visual hierarchy and page layout techniques, designers use typography and pictures to meet users’ specific needs and focus on the logic of displaying elements in interactive designs, to optimize the user experience.

Poultry Farming and Processing
Poultry farming is the form of animal husbandry which raises domesticated birds such as chickens, ducks, turkeys and geese to produce meat or eggs for food. It has originated from the agricultural era
Farming is another vital area we shall be training girls in. They stand to learn the professional approach to farming that will give them the needed skills to become self-employed.
